Taqi Usmani is a globally respected Islamic scholar, jurist, and author from Pakistan. He is known for his deep knowledge of Islamic law, Hadith, economics, and finance. His work has shaped Islamic scholarship and modern Islamic banking around the world.

Born in 1943 in Deoband, India, Taqi Usmani later moved to Karachi after the partition. He memorised the Qur’an at a young age and completed his traditional studies at Darul Uloom Karachi. He also earned degrees in economics, law, and Arabic literature.

From 1982 to 2002, he served as a judge on Pakistan’s Federal Shariat Court and later the Shariat Appellate Bench of the Supreme Court. In addition, he has been instrumental in developing global standards for Islamic finance. He has worked with institutions such as AAOIFI and led the formation of Meezan Bank, Pakistan’s first Islamic bank.

Taqi Usmani has authored more than 140 books in Arabic, Urdu, and English. His most widely read works include *An Introduction to Islamic Finance*, a Qur’an translation and commentary, and a multi-volume explanation of Sahih Muslim.

He currently serves as the President of Darul Uloom Karachi and Vice Chairman of AAOIFI. Through his scholarship, leadership, and teaching, Taqi Usmani continues to be a key influence in both traditional Islamic education and modern financial ethics.
